UUM Expands Global Network at EURIE 2025, Seals Loi with Istanbul Aydin University
ISTANBUL, 10 April 2025: Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) continues to solidify its presence on the international stage when it forges a strategic partnership with Istanbul Aydin University through the signing of a Letter of Intent (LoI) at the prestigious Eurasia Higher Education Summit (EURIE) 2025 in Turkiye.
The LoI signing ceremony was officiated by the President of Istanbul Aydin University, Prof. Dr. Mustafa Aydin and the official representative of UUM, Prof. Dr. Mohd Azizuddin Mohd Sani. Notably, this momentous occasion was also witnessed by the Minister of Higher Education, Dato’ Seri Dr. Zambry Abdul Kadir.
According to UUM Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and International), Prof. Dr. Azizuddin, the collaboration paves the way for a broad range of academic initiatives, including research collaborations and student and faculty mobility between the two universities.
He emphasised that this partnership aligns with UUM’s aspiration to become a globally competitive, eminent management university, while also supporting the internationalization agenda of Malaysian higher education.
“This is a significant milestone in fostering academic networks between Malaysia and Turkey, especially in the fields of management, social sciences and public policy development.
“We view this collaboration not only as a means of strengthening academic and research aspects, but also as fostering cultural exchange and mutual understanding between two nations with rich histories and strategic global potential,” he said.
With the signing of this LoI, UUM and Istanbul Aydin University are set to design various joint programmes including conferences, student and faculty exchange initiatives, and high-impact research projects.
EURIE 2025, which gathers over 2,000 delegates from around the world, serves the best platform for UUM to expand its global strategic partnerships in line with the Ministry of Higher Education’s vision of promoting Malaysia as a regional and global education hub.
Last year, UUM signed a Memorandum of Understanding with five Turkish universities namely Karabuk University, Ankara Yildrim Beyazit University, Dicle University, Gebze Technical University and Mardin Artuklu University.
The MoU signing ceremony took place in Istanbul and was witnessed by Dato’ Seri Dr. Zambry Abdul Kadir, the Minister of Higher Education, alongside Datuk Prof. Dr. Azlinda Azman, the Director-General of Higher Education.
