Alumni Dinner Rekindles Fond Memories
SINTOK: The Alumni Dinner, themed ‘Golden Navy Blue: A Night to Reunite’, held as part of Universiti Utara Malaysia’s (UUM) Mai Balik UUM programme, emerged as a significant occasion for alumni to reconnect and reminisce about their cherished memories at the university.
Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dato’ Dr Mohd Foad Sakdan emphasised that alumni are among UUM’s most valuable assets.
“The successes and accomplishments you achieve are a testament to the exceptional quality of this institution. Your achievements reflect your dedication and serve as a source of pride for both you and the university that nurtured your journey.
“UUM sincerely values your contributions in enhancing its reputation, both nationally and internationally. With a strong and dedicated alumni network, this university will continue to excel,” he stated.
Prof. Foad also highlighted the critical role alumni play in supporting their alma mater, whether through time, expertise, ideas, or financial contributions.
“Your support is essential in empowering the university to enrich student experiences, implement impactful programmes, and elevate the quality of research. I warmly invite everyone to continue contributing in any capacity to help cultivate more exceptional graduates,” he said during the event, held at Mu’adzam Shah Hall on Saturday night.
He further explained that the ceremony was not only a celebration of the alumni’s journey at UUM but also a moment to look forward to the future, filled with renewed hopes and ambitions. It also aims to foster opportunities for enhanced collaboration and support across various fields.
Meanwhile, alumni representative Dato’ Ramli Mohd Tahir urged all alumni to stay committed to UUM’s pursuit of excellence in the years to come.
“The university not only imparts knowledge but also creates lasting memories for us. Regardless of our achievements, we must not forget Universiti Utara Malaysia. This university is a shared treasure. Let us continue to show our support and contribute to its success in our respective fields.
“Life is too short. We must always remember the invaluable contributions of our parents and lecturers, who tirelessly guided us toward success,” he said.
Dato’ Ramli added that the Mai Balik UUM programme offers alumni the chance to return to their alma mater, share stories and experiences, and engage in enjoyable activities that foster lasting memories.
“This event has allowed us to reconnect with our roots, fostering a sense of belonging, mutual respect, and the exchange of aspirations, achievements, and visions for UUM’s future,” he concluded.
The Mai Balik UUM 2024 programme, organised by the UUM Alumni Centre, was held for the first time in conjunction with the Visit UUM Year 2024 and the 40th Anniversary of UUM’s Foundation Day, celebrated from 20 to 22 September.
