UUM Celebrates the Success of Graduates with Enthusiasm and New Hope
SINTOK, 14 November 2024: The Mu’adzam Shah Hall, Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) resonated with joy as the university community came together to celebrate the remarkable accomplishments of its graduands.
This emotional convocation ceremony drew an impressive gathering of parents, lecturers and the entire UUM community, all proudly witnessing the young generation ready to face the world, equipped with knowledge and intense enthusiasm.
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dato’ Dr Mohd Foad Sakdan expressed his immense pride in the graduands who have successfully completed their studies after going through their academic journey, marked by numerous twists and turns.
“O UUM students, you stand proudly here today, adorned with sashes on your shoulders and filled with intense enthusiasm. You embody the hope of the nation, and the world now lies before you,” he said.
He also paid tribute to parents who have sacrificed, worked hard and prayed for the success of their children.
“From the father’s toil in lonely fields, to the mother’s whispered prayers in the stillness of night, your children now illuminate the world stage, ready to instil hope for the future,” he said poetically.
He also expressed heartfelt gratitude to fellow lecturers who have diligently guided and educated the graduands.
According to him, this outcome is a testament to the dedication of educators who patiently and lovingly impart knowledge and nurture the seeds of wisdom in graduands.
Prof. Dato’ Dr Mohd Foad Sakdan also emphasized the significance of ongoing advancement for graduates, especially by making use of the knowledge and skills they have acquired.
“The world out there is full of challenges, yet with the knowledge, kindness, and dedication you possess, nothing is impossible. Embrace the role of a leader who initiates change, not merely by discussing the vision, but by stepping forward with courage and a carefully planned strategy.
“I encourage graduands to focus not solely on salary, but rather on the importance of creating value through work, fostering innovation, and driving technological advancement. We require more than mere employment; we must actively shape the future with our own hands,” he said.
He said, graduands are no longer merely children who once toddled, but rather the future leaders set to drive change.
With confidence, the Vice-Chancellor concluded his address, expressing high hopes that the graduands would forge ahead and elevate UUM’s reputation on the global stage.
“Advance, children of the nation, embark with determination and courage. Harness knowledge as your weapon, wield kindness as your shield and let the name of the UUM resonate in every step you take.
“Return as a leader, as a warrior, to forge a more glorious future for the beloved nation and country,” he said.
