OYAGSB Launches Strategic Marketing Committee to Expand International Student Enrolment

KUALA LUMPUR, 13 April 2026: The Othman Yeop Abdullah Graduate School of Business (OYAGSB), Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM), has established a dedicated Marketing and Outreach Committee as part of a strategic effort to strengthen its global presence and expand international student enrolment.

The initiative is chaired by Dr Uma a/p Murthy, with Dr Zeittey Karmilla binti Kaman serving as Vice-Chairman and Mdm. Nur Afiqah binti Abu Bakar as Secretary. The committee is further supported by a team of academic professionals committed to enhancing the visibility and reach of OYAGSB’s postgraduate programmes on both the local and international fronts.

Effective from 1 April 2026 until 31 December 2027, the committee will operate from the OYAGSB UUM Kuala Lumpur Campus, where it will coordinate and drive a range of promotional and outreach activities at both the national and international levels.

The establishment of this committee follows a directive from the Vice-Chancellor of UUM, underscoring the need for a more strategic, coordinated, and comprehensive marketing approach to attract international students. The initiative also reflects the university’s proactive response to the increasingly competitive global higher education landscape, while positioning OYAGSB as a leading destination for postgraduate business education.

To achieve its objectives, the committee will undertake a wide range of initiatives, including digital marketing campaigns, internal promotional strategies, social media engagement, and programme preview sessions at corporate organisations. In addition, participation in international education fairs, industry collaborations, and media engagement efforts will further strengthen OYAGSB’s visibility and outreach across key international markets.

This multi-pronged approach is designed to reach a broad spectrum of target market segments through a more structured, focused, and data-informed marketing strategy. Through these concerted efforts, the university hopes to significantly increase international student enrolment, strengthen global partnerships, and further elevate OYAGSB’s standing within the international academic community.
