SINTOK, 14 April 2025: In an effort to showcase the Malaysian hospitality, the UUM Global Buddies Club (GBC) successfully hosted the “Meet n Greet” programme for inbound mobility students of Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) for Semester A242.
The programme was designed to introduce inbound mobility students to the vibrant GBC community, offer important insights into campus life, and foster early friendships through fun and interactive activities.
The event began with a warm welcoming address by the club’s advisor, Mr. Mohd Azri Abdul Aziz, the Assistant Director of Centre for International Affairs and Cooperation (CIAC). This was followed by an inspiring keynote speech by the Club President, Ms. A. Sarvineshaa, who also shared a preview of the upcoming events planned for the semester.
Participants then took part in an Emoji Introduction activity, where they briefly explained their choice of five emojis representing their mood or personality. This light-hearted session sparked laughter and easy conversation, setting a cheerful tone for the day.
The energy continued with a Malaysia-themed culture quiz via Quizziz, allowing participants to test their knowledge while learning fun facts about local traditions and customs. Afterwards, participants were then divided into breakout rooms for the Passport Activity, where they shared personal stories based on creative prompts such as dream travel destinations and unique cultural facts. This segment aimed to celebrate diversity and nurture intercultural understanding in a more intimate and meaningful setting.
This session concluded with a Q&A segment. Students eagerly asked questions about campus life, dress codes, and facilities such as the sports complex. The event wrapped up with a memorable group photo – marking the end of the programme and the beginning of their exciting journey at UUM.
The “Meet n Greet” programme served as both a warm welcome and an essential first step for inbound students, laying the foundation for lasting connections and enriching cultural exchanges throughout the semester.
