AACSB Grand Assembly: Preparation for PRT 2027
Sintok: In preparation for the upcoming Peer Review Team (PRT) in 2027, Universiti Utara Malaysia’s (UUM) Quality and Accreditation Management Centre (PPQA) organised the AACSB Grand Assembly 2024 at Seminar Hall A, Convention Centre, this morning.
The event marks another significant milestone for the university, further solidifying its remarkable achievements in 2016 that established UUM as one of the top management universities globally.
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dato’ Dr Mohd Foad Sakdan, stated that UUM’s global reputation has been greatly enhanced by AACSB accreditation, strengthening the university’s position as a leader in management education.
According to him, this recognition has attracted exceptional students and faculty, enhancing the university’s competitive edge.
He further emphasised that UUM remains committed to its internationalisation agenda, aligning itself with the world’s top universities. The vision of an “Eminent Management University” is central to UUM’s strategic plan, which places a strong emphasis on internationalisation.
“UUM first attained AACSB accreditation in 2016, becoming the first university in Malaysia to receive this prestigious recognition at the institutional level. Since then, we have dedicated ourselves to continuous improvement for the benefit of our stakeholders.
“I am looking forward to the AACSB Grand Assembly 2024, as it has the potential to inspire and drive us forward. Continuous improvement requires a collective effort, and I encourage everyone to contribute actively to this challenging journey. This journey demands continuous enhancement in the program curriculum, faculty qualifications, research output, and stakeholder engagement in preparation for the Peer Review Team in 2027,” he said in a speech delivered by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and International), Prof. Dr Mohd Azizuddin Mohd Sani.
Meanwhile, the Director of UUM PPQA, Assoc. Prof. Dr Mohd Haniff Jedin, stressed that the AACSB Grand Assembly 2024 serves as a critical reminder for the entire UUM community.
He noted that the event underscores the importance of strategic planning in the re-accreditation process for 2027.
“We are confident that the UUM community will actively contribute to maintaining this prestigious accreditation,” he said.
The event featured several key activities, including the launch of the Coffee Table Book, the presentation of awards and certificates of appreciation to the winners and recipients of the 2024 AACSB Innovation That Inspires, UUM Innovation That Inspires Competition, the AACSB 2023 Taskforce Committee, the AACSB 2023 Advisory Committee, and a special appreciation for the former Directors of ACSB. The event also included the celebration of the 67th Independence Day, a lucky draw, and the AACSB Sharing Session: The Updates, Role, and Impact.
Also in attendance were the Assistant Vice-Chancellor of UUM COB, Prof. Dr Ram Al Jaffri Saad; the Registrar, Mr. Ahmad Rasidi Abdullah; and senior university officials.
