Best Trainees Honoured at SISKOR 2024 Commissioning Ceremony
SINTOK: After seven days of rigorous activities, five students were proudly awarded the Certificate of Best Trainee at the 2024 Correctional Student Volunteer Corps Commissioning Ceremony (SISKOR), held yesterday at the Mu’adzam Shah Hall, Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM).
The recipients of the Best Trainee certificates were SISKOR Inspector Ku Suhaila Ku Alahudin from UUM, SISKOR Inspector Muhammad Asyraf Ramli from Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP), SISKOR Inspector Siti Nur Firdiani Zaiful from Universiti Malaysia Kelantan (UMK), SISKOR Inspector Siti Aisyah Abu Hasan from Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin (UniSZA) and SISKOR Inspector Abdul Rahman Abd Majid from Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM).
These five recipients, together with 267 other trainees, represented UTHM, UNISZA, UNIMAP, UMK and UUM in this course.
The certificates were presented by the Commissioner General of Prisons, Malaysian Prisons Department, Dato’ Seri Nordin Muhamad and the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dato’ Dr Mohd Foad Sakdan.
In his welcoming address, Prof. Dato’ Dr Mohd Foad emphasised that the Correctional Student Volunteer Corps or SISKOR, is a significant initiative aimed at developing students who are holistic, balanced across physical, emotional, spiritual, intellectual and social dimensions, consequently serving as a vital catalyst for the enhancement of soft skills.
According to him, this course will enable students to apply both the theory and practical aspects of prison studies while also fostering the development of ethical character and personality.
“At the heart of SISKOR lies the commitment to volunteerism, encompassing a diverse field such as culture, entrepreneurship and innovation as well as community service.
“We encourage students to seize this opportunity and engage in activities that contribute positively to society. I am confident that SISKOR will produce leaders who are responsive to the needs of the community,” he said.
Also present at the event were Director of the Professionalism Development Division, TKP Mohamad Rosidek Musa; Director of Pokok Sena Prison, TKP Nor Haizan Md Isa, who represented the Director of Kedah State Prison Department and UMK Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dato’ Dr Razli Che Razak.
