SINTOK: More than 300 students from the School of Tourism, Hospitality and Event Management (STHEM) Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) had the opportunity to gain new knowledge shared by Chef Wan or his real name, Datuk (Dr.) Redzuawan Ismail at the ‘Sharing Session With Datuk Chef Wan’ program at the STHEM Building , recently.

With the title ‘Preparing yourself for the industry’, he who is an Adjunct Professor of STHEM shared about his life journey in order to be an inspiration to all STHEM students.

He also shared his experience while studying in Australia so that he could be used as a student companion to become a ‘multitasking’, ‘humble’ and ‘passionate’ person at work.

“Students need to be prepared for an industry that is quite challenging to navigate. When you step into the industry, you will see various problems that you will face including with people surrounding, not just a beautiful or sweet experience.

“Your biggest revenge is by your success. Increase self-knowledge, confidence and always take care of self-esteem to be better. Successful people need to work hard, sacrifice a lot, always try and be strong,” he said.

Chef Wan also expressed his happiness to be able to return to the beautiful land of Sintok and will return to UUM for a bigger program in the future.

His presence at STHEM was welcomed by the Dean of STHEM, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kamal Izuwan Ramli together with STHEM management, who then took him to look around the STHEM building which was newly occupied last September.

Chef Wan who was excited and amazed to see facilities such as restaurants, kitchens and many other facilities there was pleased to contribute to STHEM for the purpose of improving the facilities at STHEM.
