After going through the Covid-19 pandemic for two years, the Tebuireng Islamic Boarding School finally returned to holding the culmination of the 13th anniversary of KH. Abdurrahman Wahid (Gus Dur) openly at the Tebuireng Islamic Boarding School on Wednesday (21/12/2022).
“The key word for understanding Gus Dur is easy, namely balance,” said one of Gus Dur’s daughters, Zannuba Ariffah Chafsoh, fondly called Yenny Wahid.
On the other hand, according to Ning Yenny Wahid, in today’s modern materialistic life, in which humans only focus on worldly material things, we need to follow Gus Dur’s example.
KH Abdul Hakim Mahfudz, the Head/caretaker of the Tebuireng Islamic Boarding School, was also present and gave a speech and told the greatness of the figure of Gus Dur. “There are many things that we can recognize from the figure of KH. Abdurrahman Wahid and one of the most famous, is a humanist figure. He always defended people who were persecuted, minority people, marginalized people, and he always fought for justice for all human beings,” he said.
“In 1984, NU was still heavily involved in politics. So in that same year, Gus Dur succeeded in changing many things through his humanist thoughts, so that NU became humanist. Until finally NU in that year also returned to the 1926 Khittah NU and experienced many developments, “said Gus Kikin, remembering Gus Dur’s services.
Before the main event, there were a series of activities to enliven Gus Dur’s haul, including the reading of Manaqib Kubro Shaykh Abdul Qadir Al-Jailani, Bahtsul Masa’il, Gus Dur’s Thought seminar, and the appearance of the Nahdlatul Hadrah Arts Association of the Republic of Indonesia (ISHARI).
