Paid roads are implemented by the provincial government of Jakarta to ease traffic

JAKARTA: The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government is planning to implement an electronic road pricing (ERP) system. Regarding the tariff, the DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency has recommended a range of Rp5,000 to Rp19,900 for a single pass.

This policy is an electronic limitation of motorized vehicles on particular highways, locations, and hours.

The ERP system’s deployment is stated in the proposed regional regulation (Raperda) Electronic Traffic Control (PPLE).

The Raperda Provincial Government identifies 25 road segments that ERP will implement. The construction of this paid road will take place every day from 05.00 to 22.00 WIB.

“In the event of certain circumstances, the Governor (DKI Jakarta) may give approval to temporarily not enforce Electronic Traffic Control as referred to in paragraph (1) on certain days and/or certain times after receiving a proposal from the Service,” reads Article 10 paragraph 2 of the PPLE Draft Regional Regulation, cited Tuesday (10/1/2023).

Meanwhile, it is specified in Article 11 paragraph 1 of the PPLE Draft Regional Regulation that all forms of motorized or electric vehicles are permitted to pass through the electronic traffic control area.
