KUALA LUMPUR – A total of seven members of the Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) Board of Directors who have dutifully fulfilled their term of service were honoured at the Sanjung Bakti Ceremony held on 22 October 2023.
The chairman of the UUM Board of Directors, Tan Sri Datuk Wira Dr Haji Mohd Shukor Hj. Mahfar, together with the members of the board, as well as the members of the university management committee and senior university officials, honoured them at the special event.

During his speech at the event, he conveyed his gratitude to the seven esteemed members of the board who have successfully completed their terms of service, namely Tan Sri Dr Mazlan Yusoff, Dato’ Muzammil Mohamad, Dato’ Noraslina Datuk Zainal Abidin, Dato’ Wan Shaharuddin Wan Mahmood, Prof. Dr Abdul Malek Hj. Abdul Karim, Mdm. Nazira Abdul Rahim and Mr. Khairul Azwan Harun.
According to him, the appreciation ceremony was organised with the purpose of acknowledging and recognising their valuable contributions and dedication during their tenure at UUM.
“The collective role played by all previous members of the Board of Directors in driving organisational change to enhance efficiency and effectiveness within this university has significantly influenced its direction while also upholding the mission of this university,” he said.

Tan Sri Dr Haji Mohd Shukor said that the former members of the Board of Directors have fulfilled the responsibilities of overseeing and implementing various policies related to the university’s financial matters, human resources, research and development, degree conferrals, investments and appointments. In addition, they actively engaged with the community, corporate sector, industry, and local and international entities.
“They have played a role in ensuring effective governance in the production of graduates who possess the necessary skills to navigate the challenges of the Fourth Industrial Revolution while also upholding strong values, ethics and spiritual qualities,” he said.

Meanwhile, UUM Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Mohd Foad Sakdan in his welcome speech, also expressed his gratitude to all seven members of the University Board of Directors who were honoured.
