The Deputy Crown Prince urges increased use of green technology

ALOR SETAR: The Deputy Crown Prince of Kedah, His Royal Highness Dato’ Seri DiRaja Tunku Shazuddin Ariff Ibn Al Aminul Karim Sultan Sallehuddin, the Pro-Chancellor of Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM), wishes for the university to promote the usage of green technology among its faculty members and students.

He conveyed his hope during the meeting with the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Haim Hilman Abdullah at Wisma Darulaman, recently.

Additionally, His Royal Highness wants UUM to create a smart campus programme, in addition to avoiding open burning that will contaminate the university’s air.

The Vice-Chancellor delivered an update on campus events, including the proposed dates for the 35th and 36th Convocation ceremonies for the classes of 2022 and 2023, as well as the date for the UUM 34th Convocation Ceremony for the class of 2021, at the meeting.

His Royal Highness the Deputy Crown Prince acknowledged his appreciation and guaranteed his attendance at the 34th Convocation Ceremony, which will take place from November 6 – 10, 2022.

In addition, Haim Hilman delivered a presentation on the most recent developments at UUM, including the UUM road map under Gagasan Akademia Gemilang dan Admin Holistik (GAGAH) @ Bersama Menjulang Namamu UUM.

In addition, the Vice-Chancellor highlighted the efforts made to increase the visibility of UUM at the international arena, including the UUM collaboration initiatives with prestigious foreign universities through the MoU and MoA inked during his recent official visits to Australia and Indonesia.

Haim Hilman also expressed UUM’s desire to organise The Royal Kedah Tour, which will strengthen the ties between the palace and the people.

In addition to fostering a close relationship between the royal family and the people, the programme will allow the royals to witness the state’s progress firsthand and promote tourist attractions.

His Royal Highness the Sultan of Kedah, Tuanku Chancellor of UUM, has granted his approval for the implementation of the programme.
