UUM Hosts The National Social Work Conference (PESAN 2023)

SINTOK – The Social Work Programme of the Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) School of Applied Psychology, Policy and Social Work (SAPSP), is set to host the Second National Social Work Conference (PESAN 2) on 13 and 14 September 2023 at the Intelek Hall, Social Institute of Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur.

According to the Director of the Conference, Assoc. Prof. Dr Rajwani Md Zain both the Director General of Higher Education, Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE), Prof. Dr Azlinda and the Chief Executive of the Social Security Organisation (PERKESO), Dato’ Seri Dr Mohammed Azman Dato’ Aziz Mohammed have been invited as the main speakers of the conference.

The opening ceremony of the conference will be officiated by Mdm. Aiman Athirah Sabu, the Deputy Minister of Women, Family and Community Development.

She further added that UUM Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr Mohd Foad Sakdan will deliver the welcoming speech at the conference which is aptly centred around the theme of “Social Work Facing the New Eco Social World”. The conference is expected to attract the participation of fellow academics, practitioners of the field of aid and non-governmental organisations (NGOs).

In order to ensure the success of the event, the panel of invited panellists comprises esteemed individuals such as Dr Norli Abdul Jabbar, a Public Health Physician affiliated with the National Centre of Excellence for Mental Health (NCEMH); YM Raja Shamri Raja Husin, the Chairman of the Raja Shamri Foundation; and SAC Tuan Nik Ezanee Mohd Faisal, the Chief Assistant Director of Data/Analysis at the Crime Prevention and Community Security Department (JPJKK) PDRM.

Dr Rajwani further added that the conclusion of the two-day conference, which has garnered participation from over 150 individuals, will be officiated by Dr Faridah Awang, the Director of the Social Institute of Malaysia.
