SINTOK – A two-day international conference aptly themed ‘Key Issues in Education, Law and Communication in Southeast Asia’ was held at the Main Meeting Room, School of Multimedia Technology and Communication (SMMTC), Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM), Sintok.
The Dean of SMMTC, Assoc. Prof. Dr Mohd Khairie Ahmad, officiated the seminar, which was attended by 36 participants from UIN Mataram and UUM.
“It is anticipated that the presentation of academic papers pertaining to the domains of education, communication and law would prove to be mutually advantageous for both universities,” he said when opening the seminar.
He expressed confidence that the preparations made would undeniably lead to the accomplishment of the intended goal.
Meanwhile, a representative from UIN Mataram, Prof. Dr H. Fahrurrozi M.A., expressed great joy upon the recommencement of the seminar in a face-to-face format after experiencing a delay caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
“It is anticipated that the outcome of the presentations and debates will provide valuable insights and benefits to both universities,” he said during an interview.
In conjunction with the delegation’s visit, they were able to personally explore the surroundings of the Lake Restaurant, Deer Park, UUM Sports Centre, Varsity Mall, Welcome Centre and the Go-kart circuit.
This programme is a reciprocal visit of UUM-UIN Mataram following the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with SMMTC on 29 May 2023 in Indonesia.
May this visit from UIN Mataram facilitate opportunities for SMMTC and UIN Mataram to enhance collaboration and expertise in the field of academic, while also strategizing activities outlined in the MoU and MoA.
Among the collaborations carried out is the offering of the Master of Science (Managerial Communication) by UUM and the Master of Science (Multimedia Journalism) by UIN Mataram to students under the sponsorship of the Indonesian Ministry of Religion (KEMINAG).
