SINTOK – Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) has been selected as the host institution of the 41st. Public University (PU) Reserve Officer Training Unit (ROTU) Cadet Officer Royal Commissioning Ceremony in September 2023.
The Director of the Malaysian Army Training and Doctrine Command Headquarters (MyTRADOC), Brig General Dato’ Abu Hasan Assha’Ari @Shaffiee said, it is anticipated that 1600 students from the PU ROTU will be commissioned as Junior Officers during the ceremony.
“This annual programme will take place during the semester break and will be attended by ROTU from 16 public universities,” he said after paying a courtesy visit on the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and International) who is performing the duties of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr Shahimi Mohtar at the Visitors’ Lounge, Sultan Sallehuddin Chancellery Building, Thursday morning.
Among matters discussed at the meeting were the future of ROTU at the university and appointment of honorary officers in an effort to increase student participation from this campus.
The delegation was also taken on a campus tour and the UUM Sultan Sallehuddin Golf Club hosted a friendly golf competition for the delegation.
Also present at the meeting were the Head of the Training Management Branch of the Malaysian Army Training and Doctrine Command Headquarters, Lt. Col. Hazrin Yahya, Deputy Commandant of UUM ROTU, Lt. Col. Mohamad Ezanee Yazid, Head Trainer of UUM ROTU, Lt. Col. Zahrulnizam Mohd Rashid and senior university officials.
