PETRONAS’ Reciprocal Visit to UUM Strengthens Cooperation

Sintok – The PETRONAS delegation’s reciprocal visit to Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) is indicative of PETRONAS’ ongoing commitment to the development of high-quality human capital through close collaboration with higher education institutions.

Mr. A Rani Ahmad, General Manager of Finance, Project Implementation & Technology at PETRONAS, led the visit along with Mdm. Maria Teo, the Senior General Manager, Global Human Resources Partner, Project Implementation & Technology; Mr. Ahmad Azimi Mat Taridi, the General Manager, Transformation Unit; and Mr. Nor Izwan Ngademim, Manager, Global HR Partner, Project Implementation & Technology at PETRONAS.

The delegation received a warm welcome from the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dato’ Dr Foad Sakdan and representatives from the Centre for University-Industry Collaboration (CUIC) led by Prof. Dr Chandrakantan Subramaniam.

According to Prof. Dr Chandrakantan, the main focus of the meeting was a briefing on the collaboration programme organised by PETRONAS, BeDigital Bootcamp. The programme will involve final year UUM students at Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Permatang Pauh, Penang.

“As part of its 10th cohort, the programme involves the public higher education institutions in the north.

“BeDigital Bootcamp also offers industry and career training opportunities to participants, with the goal of empowering graduands with digital skills,” he said.

The discussion also touched on the renewal of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between UUM and PETRONAS, which is anticipated to strengthen the strategic cooperation between the two parties in the academic and research fields.

During the visit, the delegation had the opportunity to explore various areas of UUM, namely the university golf course and INASIS PETRONAS, a student accommodation facility funded by generous donations from PETRONAS.
