SINTOK, 10 July 2025: Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) presented the accomplishments of its Strategic Plan for the second quarter (January–June) of 2025 in a session held at EDC-UUM.
The presentation aimed to assess the progress of strategic initiatives in alignment with UUM’s aspiration of becoming the Eminent Management University.
The event was attended by the university’s senior management, heads of centres of responsibility, deans, and key representatives who collectively reviewed current performance and challenges in meeting the set Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dato’ Dr Mohd Foad Sakdan, reaffirmed the university’s commitment to ensuring that each outlined strategy delivers significant impact, especially in the areas of academics, research, community and industry engagement, finance, services, and the development of holistic graduates.
According to him, the evaluation of strategic plan achievements must be conducted periodically. Any identified issues or weaknesses must be addressed promptly and proactively.
He also expressed his appreciation to the entire UUM community for their dedication, which contributed to UUM’s inclusion among the world’s top 500 universities in the QS World University Rankings 2026.
He added that this achievement comes with the responsibility to maintain and further improve the university’s ranking in the upcoming 2027 ranking.
“Furthermore, this strategic plan is crucial as it aligns with the university’s direction and is assessed based on ten key indicators that drive our progress.
“During the initial six months of the year, a total of 154 performance indicators were set. Of these, 100 were successfully achieved, 24 recorded partial achievement, while 30 have yet to be accomplished. Hence, I urge everyone to focus on the indicators marked yellow (Core Thrusts 2 and 3) to ensure visible improvement in the third and fourth quarters,” he said.
