Vice-Chancellor Visits INASIS Off-Campus Entrepreneurship Site in Support of Student Enterprise
SINTOK, 21 January 2026: The Vice-Chancellor of Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM), Prof. Dr Ahmad Martadha Mohamed, paid a visit to the INASIS Off-Campus Entrepreneurship Site, reaffirming the university’s continued support to nurturing an entrepreneurial culture among its students.
The Principal of INASIS Off-Campus, Mr. Mohd Sukri Othman said that the visit provided an opportunity to observe first-hand the business activities independently operated by students, while also gaining deeper insight into the challenges, opportunities, and growth potential within the off-campus student entrepreneurial ecosystem.
He further added that the initiative aligns with the UUM’s aspiration to produce graduates who are holistic, competitive, and equipped with strong entrepreneurial skills.
The INASIS Off-Campus Entrepreneurship Site features an array of student-run business stalls offering popular food and beverages, including Thailicious drink, nasi lemak, lokcing, crispy fried chicken, cheese nachos, crispy fries, chicken and meat satay, and fried instant noodles. These offerings reflect the students’ creativity, innovation, and ability to respond to local consumer preferences.
“Business operations at the site usually run from Monday to Saturday, between 5.00 p.m. to 11.00 p.m. These flexible operating hours allow students to balance academic responsibilities with entrepreneurial pursuits, while generating supplementary income and gaining valuable hands-on experience in business management,” he said.
During the visit, the Vice-Chancellor also interacted with the student entrepreneurs, listened to their experiences, and offered words of encouragement. He urged them to continue innovating, enhance the quality of their products and services, and remain attentive to hygiene standards and food safety requirements.
He emphasised that platforms such as the INASIS Off-Campus Entrepreneurship Site serve as high-impact experiential learning environments that effectively complement formal classroom instruction.
Overall, the visit reflects Universiti Utara Malaysia’s strong commitment to advancing student entrepreneurship as a key strategic thrust in developing graduates with an entrepreneurial mindset, aligned with the university’s aspirations and responsive to the demands of the current job market.
