BRUNEI DARUSSALAM, 16 – 20 October 2025: The OYAGSB MBA Mobility Programme to Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD), held from 16 to 20 October 2025, aimed to provide international exposure, strengthen academic collaboration, and enhance students’ understanding of global business practices. The programme aligned with UUM’s commitment to developing globally competent, culturally aware, and leadership-ready graduates.

The delegation’s arrival in Brunei was delayed due to weather conditions, resulting in the rescheduling of the planned opening session. Activities resumed the following day with an industrial visit to Muara Port Company (MPC), Brunei’s key logistics hub.
Students gained insights into port operations, cargo handling, and the country’s economic diversification strategies. The group also toured the Astro Ocean Cruise, which provided an overview of cruise management and its role in the tourism sector.
In the afternoon, participants attended an academic talk on “Publishing in Economics and Business Fields,” by Dr Jinhua Zhao from Cornell University. The session covered publication processes, journal selection, and research ethics. The day concluded with a visit to the Gadong Night Market and The Mall for cultural exposure.

The third day featured an academic lecture on “Neuroscience in Organisational and Leadership Behaviour” by Dr Edmi Edison, MD, Ph.D. The session examined the application of neuroscience principles to leadership, motivation, and decision-making.
In the afternoon, students participated in a city tour that included visits to national landmarks such as the Royal Regalia Building, Jame’ Asr Hassanil Bolkiah Mosque, Omar Ali Saifuddien Mosque, and the Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Bridge. A visit to Kampung Ayer offered further insight into Brunei’s traditional communities and cultural practices.
Beyond academic activities, the programme emphasised cultural understanding, ethical leadership, and the influence of Islamic values on modern governance and business ethics in Brunei. Students also analysed the country’s economic diversification efforts beyond oil and gas, linking theoretical concepts to real-world applications.

The mobility programme strengthened key MBA learning outcomes, including strategic thinking, communication, leadership, and cross-cultural management. Engagements with UBD faculty enhanced participants’ understanding of global competitiveness, sustainability, and innovation-led growth. The collaboration also reinforced institutional ties and supported future academic cooperation.
MBA Programme Director, Dr Nazahah Abd Rahim, conveyed her heartfelt appreciation to UBD for its support and highlighted the value of mobility initiatives in shaping well-rounded business professionals. She noted that such programmes provide students with relevant global perspectives and practical insights that contribute to their professional development.

The programme also promoted teamwork and peer bonding, as students collaborated in new environments and adapted to multicultural contexts. These experiences contributed to their professional maturity and readiness to operate in diverse business settings.
Overall, the OYAGSB MBA Mobility Programme 2025 provided a comprehensive blend of academic, industrial, and cultural learning, enriching students’ global outlook and strengthening the partnership between OYAGSB and Universiti Brunei Darussalam.
