SINTOK, 30 June 2025: Laughter rang out, hugs were exchanged, and cultural pride lit up the room as Universiti Utara Malaysia’s Global Buddies Club (GBC) hosted its grand GBC Gala Dinner 2025. The event, held at the elegant SAC Hall, marked the grand finale of Semester A242 – a semester rich with stories, connections, and shared journeys.
More than 80 attendees filled the venue, including inbound mobility students, GBC committee members, local students and special guests from the Student Representative Council (MPP). The evening was not merely a celebration; it was a heartfelt tribute to the friendships, cultural exchanges, and unforgettable moments that defined the semester.
From the moment guests stepped through the doors, the hall pulsed with anticipation and excitement. The night unfolded with a dazzling array of themed performances, cultural showcases, and moving speeches. Each segment was a vibrant reflection of the friendships and memories formed across borders.
The highlight of the night was the quirky and heartwarming award ceremony, where students were recognised for everything from their leadership to their laugh-inducing personalities, drawing waves of cheers and laughter from the crowd.
“This dinner is more than just a send-off. It is our way of saying thank you to everyone who has shared their culture, time, and energy with us. GBC is about connection, and the event reflects that beautifully”, said Ms. Eilliyah Fong Abdullah, the Programme Director.
Behind the scenes, the unsung heroes – the GBC committee members – were also acknowledged for their unwavering dedication. From coordinating academic excursions to orchestrating immersive cultural experiences, their tireless work ensured every mobility programme unfolded smoothly and meaningfully.
As the evening drew to a close with photo sessions, token exchanges, and tearful goodbyes, a powerful message lingered in the air: while the semester may have ended, the bonds built, the lessons learned, and the friendship formed would ripple far beyond the campus of UUM.
