SINTOK, 29 July 2025: The Othman Yeop Abdullah Graduate School of Business (OYAGSB), Universiti Utara Malaysia, successfully organised the Earth Day: Protect the Earth programme with the enthusiastic participation of its staff at the Sintok campus.
Held to spark greater awareness of environmental conservation, the programme encouraged sustainable habits in daily life while supporting national priorities such as the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) and the Public Sector Conducive Ecosystem (EKSA). The initiative, reflected OYAGSB’s commitment to creating a sustainable, well-planned, and clean environmental management.
The event began with a brisk walk through the scenic UUM campus. This energising start not only promoted physical wellness but also reinforced camaraderie among staff as they reconnected with nature and admired the lush beauty of their surroundings.
A highlight of the programme was the herbal plant tree-planting activity around the OYAGSB office compound. This symbolic gesture demonstrated OYAGSB’s ongoing dedication to environmental sustainability and its role in mitigating climate change – one small plant at a time.
Prof. Subramaniam Sri Ramalu, the Deputy Dean of OYAGSB, remarked that the initiative was aimed at instilling a deeper sense of environmental responsibility among staff. He stressed that small, consistent actions can lead to significant long-term outcomes, especially in fostering sustainability within the workplace.
OYAGSB remains committed to continuing such initiatives, with the aim of cultivating a greener, more conducive, and sustainable working environment for the future. – Nurhadayah Abdul Rahim
