SINTOK, 22 January 2026: The Management and Leadership Case Study Centre (PKKPK), Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM), has successfully developed and introduced a new micro-credential programme aimed at strengthening teaching case writing practices among educators, trainers, and professionals. This micro-credential is among the first in Malaysia to focus specifically on the systematic development of teaching cases and accompanying teaching notes, marking a significant milestone in advancing practice-oriented teaching and learning.

Titled “Developing Impactful Teaching Cases and Notes,” the micro-credential is offered through the Sintok@UUM micro-credential platform and supports UUM’s lifelong learning agenda by providing flexible, skills-based learning opportunities that formally recognise teaching innovation and professional competency. The programme is designed around three Course Learning Outcomes and delivered through four carefully designed modules. Participants are guided to understand the purpose, structure, and types of teaching cases; develop well-structured and engaging teaching cases; and produce comprehensive teaching note aligned with the cases. Collectively, these outcomes enable participants to transform real-life experiences and professional challenges into complete, classroom-ready teaching case packages suitable for academic, training, and professional settings.
The micro-credential is delivered by a dedicated instructional team from PKKPK, led by Dr Eshaby Mustafa as Team Leader, with Dr Noor Amalina Mat Yusof and Assoc. Prof. Dr Narentheren Kaliappen serving as Team Members. The team brings extensive experience in teaching innovation, case writing, leadership development, and professional training at both national and international levels. The development of this micro-credential responds to the growing demand among educators and practitioners who recognise the value of case-based learning but often lack formal training or confidence in developing effective teaching cases and notes.

Upon successful completion, participants will be awarded a digital micro-credential certificate, recognising their competency in developing high-quality teaching cases and teaching notes. Through this initiative, PKKPK further reinforces its role as a leading centre for case-based teaching, training, and research, while contributing to UUM’s broader aspiration to develop future-ready educators and professionals.
PKKPK also extends its sincere appreciation to the UUM FeLCo team and the University Teaching and Learning Centre (UTLC) for their invaluable support, guidance, and collaboration throughout the development and implementation of this micro-credential. Their contributions were instrumental in ensuring alignment with UUM’s micro-credential framework and quality assurance standards.
