RMK12: MoHE Deputy Secretary-General Briefed on Taman Siswa Redevelopment in Jitra
JITRA, 9 March 2025: Dato’ Dr Megat Sany Megat Ahmad Supian, the Deputy Secretary-General (Policy) at the Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE), conducted an inspection of the Taman Siswa area in Jitra, which originally served as the initial student accommodation when Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) was founded in Tanah Merah.
During the visit Dr Megat Sany received a briefing on the scope of the Taman Siswa project under the 12th Malaysian Plan (RMK12) (RP5 2025) from Mr. Mohd Suhaili Rejab, the Deputy Director of the Department of Development and Infrastructure Management (JPPI), and Architect, Mr. Ismadi Yaacob.
UUM has been allocated RM27 million for two projects, namely the enhancement of the single-storey houses, the musalla and the multi-purpose hall including the public infrastructure as well as the refurbishment of the two-storey houses along with related public infrastructures.
The project is scheduled to commence in April 2025 and is expected to be completed within two years and six months.
Also present during the inspection were the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation), Prof. Dr Russayani Ismail and Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student Affairs and Alumni), Prof. Dr Ahmad Martadha Mohamed and Director of the Student Accommodation Centre (SAC), Mr. Ahmad Mujahid Abd. Ghani.
