UUM Launches Scopus-Miner to Strengthen Research and Innovation Culture
SINTOK, 9 September 2025: Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) has taken another step toward strengthening its research and innovation culture with the launch of Scopus-Miner, a smart publication analytics platform designed to strategically monitor the publication performance of university staff.
In his speech, UUM Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dato’ Dr. Mohd Foad Sakdan, described the launch of Scopus-Miner as a new catalyst in enhancing the university’s research and publication outcomes, making them more focused, systematic and impactful.
“Scopus-Miner will enable university staff, particularly deans and researchers, to make informed strategic decisions based on accurate data and real-time monitoring. This is crucial to ensure that UUM’s research continues to create meaningful impact for society and the country,” he said.
The ceremony also featured the presentation of the RDICE (Research, Development, Innovation, Commercialisation and Economy) Inspiration Certificate of Appreciation and the UUM Innovation Fellow Certificate 2025/2026. These awards honour the contributions and commitments of academics in advancing research, development, innovation, commercialisation and economy.
A total of 32 staff members received the RDICE Inspiration Certificate of Appreciation, while an additional 27 were awarded the UUM Innovation Fellow Certificate. The honourees included not only lecturers but also administrative officers and professionals, reflecting UUM’s inclusive recognition of diverse contributions to research excellence.
The event was also attended by members of the University Management Committee (JPU), including Dr Mohamad Sabri Zainal, Deputy Director representing the Director of the Research Management Centre, along with professors, deans, heads of centres of authority.
