UUM Successfully Completes SIRIM MS ISO 9001:2015 Recertification Audit

SINTOK, 9 October 2025: Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) recorded one Nonconformity Requirement (NCR) and 18 Opportunities for Improvement (OFI) during SIRIM’s MS ISO 9001:2015 Recertification Audit, which concluded yesterday after a three-day audit that began on 6 October.

Chief Auditor, Mr. Muhamad Hadie Aizzat Asli, said that UUM has successfully completed the recertification process. However, he emphasised the importance of ensuring that all corrective actions addressing the identified nonconformities are implemented and resolved satisfactorily.

According to him, although there was an increase in the number of OFIs compared to the previous audit, this development should be viewed positively, as the scope of certification has been broadened to include additional processes and units across UUM.

“This improvement signifies wider opportunities for advancement aimed at strengthening the system, enhancing the effectiveness of processes, and improving the quality of work and services across the university.

“I would like to extend my gratitude to everyone who cooperated with SIRIM auditors, especially the Quality and Accreditation Management Centre (PPQA),” he said.

Meanwhile, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and International), Prof. Dr Mohd Azizuddin Mohd Sani, who chaired the Closing Meeting of the SIRIM MS ISO 9001:2015 Recertification Audit, expressed his appreciation to all SIRIM auditors for their dedication and contribution during the three-day audit.

He reaffirmed that UUM remains open and receptive to constructive feedback and suggestions aimed at further enhancing its quality management system.

In his remarks, the Director of PPQA, Prof. Dr Mohd Haniff Jedin, expressed his hope that all deans and heads of centres of authority would take note of the feedback provided and implement necessary improvements to ensure UUM’s successful certification in the upcoming year.

The three scopes of certification cover the design and development of educational programmes at the Master’s level, including both full-time and part-time undergraduate and postgraduate studies. Additionally, they also cover educational services, research management, publishing, library services and other essential support services within the university.
