BEPPU, 24 April 2025: In a shining example of environmental stewardship and cross-cultural collaboration, students from Beta Gamma Sigma (BGS) UUM Chapter recently participated in an inspiring Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program in Beppu, Japan.

Held in partnership with Beta Gamma Sigma (BGS) Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University Chapter, the event on 13 April 2025 brought students together with a shared purpose – to protect the planet while building bridges across borders.

The program, aptly named “BGS Gives Back: Beach Clean Up” brought together passionate student volunteers to restore the pristine beauty of Mochigahama Beach Park in Beppu, an area celebrated for its ecological importance and natural beauty. Participants rolled up their sleeves to collect litter, separate recyclables, and raise awareness about marine pollution and environmental preservation.

Throughout the day, students worked in teams comprising members from both universities, making it a truly collaborative effort. The clean-up event culminated in an engaging environmental education session led by local environmental experts, underscoring the vital role of both personal initiative and global solidarity in tackling environmental issues.

Representatives from both universities voiced their optimism that this meaningful collaboration would pave the way for future CSR projects and deepen academic ties between the two institutions. The BGS UUM Chapter proudly reaffirms its commitment to initiatives that empower students not only to lead with purpose but also to leave a lasting, positive impact on the world around them. – Wirdani Humaira Mohammad Ikram
