UUM Upholds Community Values Through Ziarah Kasih Programme at Kampung Tengah
KUALA KEDAH, 5 July 2025: In embracing its role as a community-centred university grounded in the values of compassion and humanity, Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) held a Ziarah Kasih programme as part of its Kampung Angkat MADANI UUM at Kampung Tengah.
Despite the challenging heat, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dato’ Dr Mohd Foad Sakdan, demonstrated commendable dedication by riding a motorcycle through the village to visit three selected homes of three residents.
He delivered essential aid boxes filled with daily necessities including food items, to individuals in need.
Among those visited by the UUM Vice-Chancellor were Mr. Shamsuddin Othman, 65 who received a hospital bed, and Mdm. Sofiah Lazim, 71, received a wheelchair.
Prof. Dato’ Dr Mohd Foad Sakdan stated that the Ziarah Kasih programme, implemented under the Kampung Angkat MADANI agenda, aims to ensure that assistance and resources are delivered directly to the residents of Kampung Tengah, especially the underprivileged.
“This approach exemplifies UUM’s dedication and concern for underserved communities.
“It reflects the university’s commitment to ensuring the holistic success of the Kampung Angkat MADANI initiative in Kampung Tengah, “he said.
He also emphasised the importance of upholding the spirit of unity, inclusivity and sustainable development as key pillars to foster a more harmonious and resilient nation.
Also present at the event were the Board Member of UUM Holdings, Dato’ Abdul Muthalib Harun and Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student Affairs and Alumni) Prof. Dr Ahmad Martadha Mohamed and the President of UUM Student Representative Council, Mr. Mohamad Amar Aidid Mohd Zain.
