Songkhla Governor’s Office and Banprix Sadao District Office Visit UUM to Explore Academic Collaboration Opportunities
SINTOK, 1 January 2026: Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) welcomed an official delegation from the Songkhla Provincial Governor’s Office, accompanied by representatives from the Banprix Sadao District Office in Thailand, in a visit aimed at exploring potential collaborative ventures in the field of higher education and the advancement of international academic initiatives.
The delegation, comprising 45 representatives and led by Mr. Imron Nuidod, was warmly welcomed by the Vice-Chancellor of UUM, Prof. Dr Ahmad Martadha Mohamed, together with the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and International), Prof. Dr Mohd Azizuddin Mohd Sani, during a formal meeting and briefing session held in the Senate Meeting Room.
During the session, the Director of the UUM Marketing Division, Assoc. Prof. Dr Ahmad Hisham Zainal Abidin, delivered a comprehensive presentation regarding the programme structure, study opportunities and campus facilities. The briefing session provided an in-depth overview of the academic programme offerings, tuition fee structure, support services for international students, and the university’s learning environment available at UUM, specifically tailored to address the needs of international students, particularly those from the southern region of Thailand.
Meanwhile, the Dean of the Islamic Business School (IBS), Prof. Dr Selamah Maamor expressed her enthusiasm over the visit, describing it as a timely and meaningful opportunity to strengthen educational prospects for residents of the Sadao district to pursue higher education at UUM.
Members of the delegation also expressed their appreciation for the wide range of programmes offered at UUM, particularly those under IBS, include Islamic Finance, Islamic Management and Halal Management.
During the sharing session, Prof. Dr Selamah highlighted available study financing opportunities through international scholarships, such as those offered by the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB), Jeddah. She also shared success stories of IBS alumni from southern Thailand, underscoring the positive impact of UUM’s academic programmes and serving as a source of inspiration and motivation for prospective students.
Throughout the event, the Vice-Chancellor expressed his utmost appreciation and gratitude to IBS, UUM for its role and dedication in overseeing and coordinating the entire visit programme, noting that such efforts contribute significantly to enhancing the reputation of UUM as a global educational institution.
The briefing concluded with a commemorative photo session at the Senate Meeting Room, followed by a guided campus tour to view the university’s main facilities. Among the locations visited were Inasis Maybank, UUM International School, UUM Sports Centre, Varsity Mall, as well as several other support facilities that exemplify UUM’s comprehensive learning ecosystem.
Overall, the visit reaffirmed UUM’s commitment to expanding its international collaboration network and strengthening its role as a regional education hub through sustainable and high-impact cross-border education initiatives.
