UUMKL 2026 bowling competition fosters camaraderie and sporting spirit

KUALA LUMPUR, 1ST May 2026 – The UUM Kuala Lumpur Postgraduate Association (PGA UUMKL) successfully organised a bowling competition, bringing together students and staff in a vibrant display of sportsmanship, teamwork, and camaraderie. The event was held at Alam Lanes, Endah Parade, Kuala Lumpur.

A total of eight teams participated in the competition, comprising seven student teams from various academic programmes and one team representing UUMKL staff. Among the participants was a team of international students, reflecting the diversity and inclusivity of the UUMKL community. Each team consisted of four male and female participants, competing across two exciting games.
The tournament marked a significant milestone as it was the first bowling competition ever organised by PGA UUMKL. The strong enthusiasm and support received from participants further highlighted the success of the event. Notably, one participant travelled all the way from Ipoh with his mother solely to take part in and support the programme, underscoring the meaningful impact of the initiative.

The competition commenced at 11:00 a.m., with participants demonstrating impressive skill and determination as they competed for strikes and high pinfalls in a lively and energetic atmosphere.
At the end of the tournament, Team Mixer emerged as champion with a total pinfall of 828, followed closely by Team OB in second place with 810 pins. Team PGA Thundercats secured third place with a commendable total of 710 pins.

For the individual category awards, Mr Ibrahim Kamil from the Master of Public Management was crowned Best Male Bowler after achieving an impressive 305 pins, while Ms Maszuraizana Man from the Master of Science (Counselling) programme received the Best Female Bowler award with 208 pins.
The prize-giving ceremony was officiated by Prof. Ruzita Bt Azmi, representing the Provost of UUM Kuala Lumpur, Prof. Dr Norlela Bt Hasnan. The event concluded at 12:30 p.m. on a high note, filled with enthusiasm, friendly competition, and strong sporting spirit.

The organisers expressed hope that the bowling competition would continue to be held annually as a platform to strengthen relationships, encourage student engagement, and promote a healthy and active campus culture among the UUMKL community.
