UUM Honours Staff Contributions with Loyal Service Medals

SINTOK: The Loyal Service Medal (PPS) Award proves that Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) acknowledges the dedication of its staff who have demonstrated loyalty to the King, the nation and the university.

His Royal Highness (HRH) Al Aminul Karim Sultan Sallehuddin Ibni Almarhum Sultan Badlishah, the Sultan of Kedah, stated that the recipients of the award were selected based on their dedication, commitment and loyal service spanning over 25 years.

HRH said that the achievements of UUM today are attributed to the invaluable efforts, sacrifices and contributions of staff who have been with the institution for over two decades. They have faced numerous challenges and obstacles, yet have triumphed through resilience, dedication and a strong sense of responsibility.

He emphasised that 25 years is not a brief duration, it symbolises trust, loyalty and deep affection for UUM. Despite the passage of time, technological advancements and various administrative transformations, the values of integrity and professionalism have remained firmly embedded in its staff.

“I am pleased to share four pieces of advice as guidance for staff aiming to begin and conclude their careers excellently.

First, always uphold trust and integrity; second, continuously learn and grow; third, ensure the welfare of others and maintain harmonious environment and fourth, foster the intention to help those in need.

“I would like to once again extend my heartiest congratulations to the recipients of this year’s PPS Award, and I pray that UUM’s aspirations and vision of becoming the eminent management university can be realised,” said HRH at the Loyal Service Medal Award Ceremony at Mu’adzam Shah Hall.

Meanwhile, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dato’ Dr Mohd Foad Sakdan acknowledged the expertise of UUM staff as important and valuable asset.

According to him, the medal serves as a recognition and appreciation from the university to those who are deserving and have contributed significantly to the university.

He added that all recipients had demonstrated their intentions, sacrifices and dedication in fulfilling their duties and responsibilities with sincerity for the benefit of religion, race and country.

Award recipient, Mr. Baharudin Yaakob described the award as a recognition from the university for the contributions of staff members who have dedicated over 25 years of service at UUM.

After 30 years of dedicated service at UUM, he expressed his hope that the current staff would continue to work diligently and demonstrate their utmost commitment to the beloved university, which has been their source of livelihood.

Also present at the event were Kedah Chief Minister, Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor; Kedah State Secretary, Dato’ Seri Norizan Khazali; Kedah State Mufti, Dato’ Syeikh Fadzil Awang and Chairman of UUM Board of Directors, Tan Sri Mohd Shukor Mahfar.
