In Person with Doc Zam Left a Positive Impact on UUM Students

SINTOK: The In Person with Doc Zam programme culminates the tour series of the Minister of Higher Education, Dato’ Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir at Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM), leaving a positive impact.

The programme, held at Dewan Mu’adzam Shah last night garnered positive feedback not only from UUM, but also from Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP).

Dr Zambry said the programme provided a comprehensive overview of his tour series, coinciding with the registration of new students to the university.

“We selected four locations, two within the Klang Valley and two outside the Klang Valley, to conduct this series of tours aimed at engaging new students.

“We observed excellent response, as students had the opportunity to engage directly with the minister fostering a cultural exchange of knowledge through an interactive question-and-answer format rather than the traditional lectures. This was the strategy I employed during my tenure as Menteri Besar to connect with them,” he said.

He said that the first week of admission to the university serves not merely as an orientation but as a vital adaptation process for students entering a new realm, as they require time to adjust to their new surroundings.

During the session moderated by fellow actor, Mr. Fizo Omar, Dr Zambry also recounted his personal journey growing up in a fishing village on Pangkor Island as the son of a fisherman.

He also launched the MyUUM Sticker, a testament to UUM’s commitment to student welfare, providing an effective and user-friendly solution.

Also present at the meeting were the Chairman of the University Board of Directors, Tan Sri Dr Mohd Shukor Mahfar; the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dato’ Dr Mohd Foad Sakdan; members of the university board of directors; and senior university officials.
