MASENI 2025 Marks the Highlight of UUM Orientation Week
SINTOK, 26 September 2025: The Mu’adzam Shah Hall at Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) came alive with cheers and applause as more than 5,000 new students showcased their talents and creativity during the Art Appreciation Night (MASENI) 2025, the highlight of the Orientation Week (MSK) for the September A251 intake.
Organised by the UUM Department of Student Affairs (HEP), the event provided a platform for new students to showcase their skills in the performing arts while fostering unity and cultivating an appreciation for campus culture.
The event was graced by UUM Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dato’ Dr Mohd Foad bin Sakdan; Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student Affairs & Alumni), Prof. Dr Ahmad Martadha Mohamed; and the President of the Student Representative Council (SRC), Mr. Mohamad Amar Aidid Mohd Zain; along with the Heads of Centres of Authority (PTJ) and the Principals of the Student Residential Halls (INASIS). Their presence added prestige and heightened the sense of celebration for an evening filled with student creativity.
The evening commenced with the national anthem, Negaraku, followed by UUM’s anthem, Biru Warna. Audiences were then treated to captivating performances by each INASIS featuring a vibrant mix of traditional dances, vocal showcases, short theatre productions, modern music ensembles, and performances by international students.
Beyond the performances, the ceremony also recognised excellence through prize presentations to groups that excelled in creativity, integrity and overall artistic quality. The event marked a defining moment for new students – their first experience competing in an art event at the university level.
The atmosphere was charged with excitement and an overwhelming feeling of belonging as the hall resonated with cheers of supporters from each INASIS who continuously rallied behind their teammates on stage.
Ultimately, MASENI 2025 not only celebrated emerging talent but also marked the beginning of a new chapter for UUM’s latest cohort of students, positioning them as informed and competitive leaders.
