Putera Iman Shah Receives Laptop and Cash Assistance from YPM
SINTOK, 8 October 2025: Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) student, Putera Iman Shah Shahiran, 19, received a laptop and a cash donation of RM1,000 from Yayasan Pelajaran MARA (YPM), fulfilling a promise made by MARA Chairman, Dato’ Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki, at the end of September.
The contribution handover ceremony, held the Visitors’ Lounge, was officiated by member of the YPM Board of Directors, Syed Mohd Johan Rizal Syed Unan Mashri, and witnessed by UUM Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dato’ Dr Mohd Foad Sakdan.
In his remarks, Syed Mohd Johan said that the contribution reflected MARA and YPM’s deep concern for the welfare of students, particularly following the heartwarming story of Putera Iman Shah, which recently went viral on social media.
“We hope this assistance serves as an encouragement for Putera to continue to his academic journey with resilience and passion, despite the challenges he faces. I hope he will continue to succeed and bring honour to the university, the faith, and the race, and the nations.,” he said.
Overwhelmed with gratitude, Putera Iman Shah expressed his heartfelt appreciation to Dato’ Dr Asyraf Wajdi and MARA for their generosity and support.
“I am truly thankful for this assistance. It has not only eased my financial burden but also reignited my motivation to work hard and succeed. I hope to use this opportunity wisely and, one day, give back to society,” he said with emotion.
The ceremony also witnessed the presentation of laptops to students from B40 families, reflecting MARA’s ongoing commitment to improve access to learning facilities for underprivileged students.
Also present were the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student Affairs and Alumni), Prof. Dr Ahmad Martadha Mohamed; Director of the Student Affairs Department, Mr. Muhammad Iskandar Zulkarnain Muhammad Suhaimi; Dean of Student Affairs, Associate Prof. Dr Zainudin Omar along with university officials and representatives of the UUM Student Representative Council (MPP).
