UUM Strengthens Ties with Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara
SINTOK, 23 October 2025: Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) has sealed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara (UMSU), Indonesia to strengthen academic and research collaboration between the two institutions.

The signing ceremony held at Visitors’ Lounge, Sultan Salehuddin Chancellery Building was officiated by UUM Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dato’ Dr Mohd Foad Sakdan, and UMSU Rector, Prof. Dr Agussani.
According to Prof. Dato’ Dr Mohd Foad Sakdan, the signing of the MoU is an important platform in enforcing the cooperation between UUM and UMSU across various areas involving both academic staff and students.
“Through this collaboration, both institutions will strive to foster and promote joint efforts in multiple key disciplines,” he said.

Meanwhile, UMSU Rector, Prof. Dr Agussani, expressed hope that the collaboration would serve as a platform for both universities to share knowledge and expertise, particularly in the field of law, hence enhancing the academic network between the two universities.
Also present at the ceremony were UUM Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and International), Prof. Dr Mohd Azizuddin Mohd Sani; Dean of the Faculty of Law, UMSU, Assoc. Prof. Dr Faisal; UUM Assistant Vice-Chancellor, College of Law, Government and International Studies (COLGIS), Prof. Dr Harlida Abdul Wahab; as well as senior officials from both UMSU and UUM.
