UUM Welcomes 362 New Students through Appeal and Open Admission

SINTOK, 14 Oktober 2025: A total of 362 new students have been offered admission to Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) for the 2025/2026 Academic Session through the appeal applications and open channel.

Of the number, 300 students were accepted through appeal applications, comprising 91 males and 209 females, while 62 students gained admission through the open channel, consisting of 16 males and 46 females.

This intake of students through these two avenues reflects UUM’s commitment to providing wider access to higher education for more prospective pre-university graduates, in line with the university’s mission to produce knowledgeable, competitive and integrity-driven graduates.

For Ms. Hannah Athirah binti Mohamad Shaiful Ashrul, a student of the Bachelor of Laws with Honours programme, the feeling of excitement and gratitude was beyond words when she discovered her name listed among the new students at UUM.

“I am truly delighted and grateful for the opportunity to pursue a field that I am deeply passionate about. This has been my lifelong dream,” she said.

“I hope to work hard to secure a place on the Dean’s List and to become an active student in co-curricular activities,” she said enthusiastically.

Meanwhile, Mr. Navindren Nair A/L Logeswaran, who enrolled in the Bachelor of Accounting with Honours programme, expressed his delight at being admitted to his first-choice course at UUM.

“UUM is my first choice because of my keen interest in accounting. I am determined to achieve excellent results every semester and make the Dean’s list so that I will not have to depend on the PTPTN loans,” he said.

“At the same time, I look forward to new experiences – joining clubs, participating in activities, and mingling with friends from diverse backgrounds,” he added.

In his address, UUM Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr Mohd Foad Sakdan congratulated all new students who successfully secured admission through the appeal and open channel.

“Every student admitted to UUM has great potential to succeed, provided they put in the necessary effort. Make full use of this opportunity to gain knowledge, build networks and enrich your experiences to become well-rounded graduates capable of contributing to national development,” he said.

University staff and student volunteers also played a vital role in facilitating the registration process and in helping new students adapt to UUM’s green conducive campus environment.
