University of Anbar Delegation Visits UUM to Explore Strategic Collaboration
SINTOK, 23 June 2025: The School of Quantitative Sciences (SQS) recently welcomed a delegation from the University of Anbar, Iraq, led by the President of the university, Prof. Dr Mushtaq Taleb Al-Neda. The visit aimed to strengthen bilateral relations and explore strategic collaboration between the two institutions.
As part of the visit, the Iraqi delegation paid a courtesy call to the Office of the Vice-Chancellor, where they were received by the UUM Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dato’ Dr Mohd Foad Sakdan, accompanied by the Dean of the School of Quantitative Sciences (SQS), Prof. Dr Haslinda Ibrahim and other university officials.
Prof. Dato’ Dr Mohd Foad Sakdan expressed his appreciation for the University of Anbar’s openness to establishing strategic cooperation with UUM.
He highlighted the significance of fostering international academic relations to elevate UUM’s global excellence and voiced confidence that SQS would play a key role in driving successful collaborative initiatives.
During the meeting, both parties exchanged views and aspirations for future international initiatives, with particular focus on joint research, staff and student exchanges, and academic collaboration at the postgraduate level.
Meanwhile, Prof. Dr Mushtaq Taleb Al-Neda reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening ties, noting that a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) is scheduled to be signed in November 2025. He also stated that he would make every effort to utilize the expertise of both parties to achieve mutual beneficial outcomes.
Following the official meeting, the Iraqi delegation engaged in a discussion at SQS to further explore academic collaboration opportunities. The session was also attended by representatives from the School of Law (SoL), the School of Languages, Civilization and Philosophy (SLCP) and the Centre for International Affairs and Cooperation (CIAC).
The meeting concluded with a commemorative photo session and exchange of souvenirs, symbolising the spirit of friendship and the start of a long-term academic cooperation. This visit marks a significant step forward in UUM’s internationalisation agenda and reinforces its status as a globally respected management university.
