PUTRAJAYA, 19 February 2025: A vibrant cultural exchange is underway as Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM), through its Centre for International Affairs and Cooperation (CIAC), welcomes 34 students and two lecturers from Termez State University and Termez State Pedagogical Institute, Uzbekistan. As part of the Winter Cultural Xchange @UUM Programme, this exciting initiative, running from 10 February to 5 March 2025, combines online and face-to-face sessions to foster cross-cultural understanding and global engagement.
Their arrival at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) was seamlessly facilitated by officers from the International Student Arrival Centre (ISAC) of Education Malaysia Global Services (EMGS), ensuring a hassle-free transition into Malaysia.
The programme began with a warm reception and an interactive campus tour at UUM Kuala Lumpur Campus, where participants explored UUM’s academic strengths, research excellence, and international opportunities. They also attended an engaging session with lecturers, gaining insights into potential study pathways for those considering further studies in Malaysia.
The next stop was the renowned Royal Selangor in Setapak, where they were captivated by Malaysia’s world-famous pewter industry. They observed skilled artisans at work and gained deeper appreciation for the intricate craftsmanship behind pewterware.
For many participants, this marks their first visit to Malaysia, making it a truly eye-opening and unforgettable experience. Ms. Dilorom Eshkulova, a student from Termez State University, shared her excitement, “This is my first time in Malaysia, and I am thrilled to explore its culture, history, and people. The hospitality here is amazing!” Her enthusiasm reflects the excitement of the entire group as they embark on this unique educational and cultural adventure.
Designed as an immersive learning experience, the Winter Cultural Xchange @UUM offers a diverse and engaging itinerary. Over the next few days, students will participate in academic discussions, creative arts workshops, CSR initiatives, and community engagement activities across Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, and Kedah. These experiences will provide a deeper understanding of Malaysia’s rich culture, dynamic industries, and globally recognised academic landscape.
Through this initiative, UUM, through CIAC, reaffirms its commitment to strengthening global academic partnerships and fostering meaningful international exchange opportunities.
