U-Assist Continues to Lead Student Support at UUM
SINTOK, 4 July 2025: U-Assist, serving as the One Stop Centre for student services at Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM), continues to enhance its role following recognition as a premier student service model at this university by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dato’ Dr. Mohd Foad Sakdan during a roadshow recently.
His appreciation speech titled, “The Best U-Assist in the World” serves not merely as a compliment but a testament to the confidence and trust that the University’s top management places in U-Assist’s capabilities as the primary facilitator of student affairs on campus.
This recognition serves as a motivation factor for all U-Assist staff to continue to make strides in enhancing a robust work culture, fostering innovation and consistently prioritising the well-being of students.
During his time at U-Assist, Prof. Dr Mohd Foad received an extensive briefing from the Director of U-Assist, Mdm. Suraya Deraman, concerning the range of services that include academic affairs, student sponsorship and finance, counselling services, corporate services management, visa and international student management as well as smart campus facilities.
Mdm. Suraya said that the purpose of the visit is to assess and ensure that the services provided by U-Assist at UUM are consistently maintained at the highest standard.
Meanwhile, Dr Mohd. Foad said that U-Assist is not merely a department; it serves as the core of student support, ensuring that their academic journey and campus life remain seamless and well-managed.
According to him, the key function of U-Assist significantly enhances UUM’s esteemed reputation on the global scale, especially in providing efficient, friendly and student-centred services.
“U-Assist is a reflection of the University’s continuous dedication to providing a holistic and impactful service experience, aligned with UUM’s vision as the Eminent Management University.
“The university expresses its sincere appreciation to the U-Assist staff for consistently delivering exceptional services to UUM students,” he said.
This roadshow also brings back personal memories for the Vice-Chancellor who previously served in the building that now houses U-Assist during his tenure as Dean of Student Development at the UUM Student Affairs Department from 1 August 2001 to 20 September 2002.
