SINTOK, 25 August 2025: Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) has received an allocation of RM129.6 million under the 13th Malaysia Plan (RMK-13) for six approved projects.
UUM Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dato’ Dr Mohd Foad Sakdan, said that from the Ninth Malaysia Plan (RMK-9) to the Twelfth Malaysia Plan (RMK-12), UUM had been allocated a total of RM639.05 million.
“UUM deeply values the confidence and continuous support extended by the Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE), and pledges to fully utilise the opportunities and resources available to produce quality graduates, conduct high-impact research, and contribute to national development.
“Through these allocations, UUM has successfully implemented various projects, including the establishment of modern learning facilities, more comfortable student accommodations, upgraded lecture halls, as well as digital technology infrastructure to facilitate the transition into a smart campus,” he said.
He delivered these remarks during the Public University Development Project Monitoring Meeting (PPUA) No. 3/2025,held at the UUM Senate Room.
The meeting was chaired by the Secretary of the Development Division, Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE), Tuan Haji Ghazali Hizam, and was attended by senior MoHE officials along with representatives from public universities across the nation.
Meanwhile, Tuan Haji Ghazali Hizam stated that such meetings are conducted regularly as an integral part of MoHE’s continuous evaluation mechanism.
“The objective is to ensure that development projects, whether physical or non-physical, are carried out efficiently, within the stipulated timeline, and in accordance with governmental allocations and standards,” he said.
He added that in addition to assessing project progress, the meeting also serves to identify any issues, challenges, or delays encountered during implementation process.
“Proposals for corrective actions and resolution measures are also collectively discussed to ensure the overall effectiveness of project implementation,” he said.
This meeting also afforded participants with the opportunity to share perspectives and generate innovative ideas to further strengthen the excellence of public universities and Malaysia’s higher education sector.
