KUALA LUMPUR, 23 June 2025: A total of 30 students from Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) participated in the Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE) National Career Carnival 2025, held on 14 and 15 June at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC).

The two-day carnival was a major platform that brought together more than 100 prominent companies and employers, offering more than 10,000 job opportunities for students and graduates.

Among the key highlights of the event were open interview sessions, career development activities, distribution of Touch ‘n Go eWallets worth RM10 to the first 500 participants, as well as lucky draw sessions held throughout the event.

The Opening Ceremony of the MoHE National Career Carnival 2025 was officiated by the Minister of Higher Education, Dato’ Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir.

In his address, he urged students to fully utilise the opportunities presented to them and to share about the event with their friends to ensure that no one will miss out on the expansive career possibilities.

He also expressed his appreciation to both local and international companies for supporting student employability by opening up diverse career pathways for students and graduates to explore their respective career paths.

This carnival marked a significant milestone by recording the highest level of company participation in a programme of its kind and garnered recognition from the Malaysia Book of Records.

The ceremony also witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the MoHE with ACCA Malaysia and Malaysia Rail Link (MRL). This strategic initiative aims to strengthen the connection between MoHE and the industry.

The ceremony continued with a symbolic donation of 25,000 copies of the Career Playbook e-Book from Talentbank to Public Higher Education Institutions (IPTA).

Also present were UUM Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dato’ Dr Mohd Foad Sakdan, and Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student Affairs and Alumni), Prof. Dr Ahmad Martadha Mohamed.

In addition, the Director of the Career Development and Graduate Employability Centre (PPKKG), Dr Fikriyah Abdullah, was also invited as one of the career mentors at this carnival and was responsible for reviewing the participants’ resumes and guiding them in their job search preparations.

According to her, this participation was one of the initiatives to provide early exposure to students about the realities of the job market and current industry demands.

“This carnival offers valuable insights for both graduates and the public seeking employment, particularly in terms of career pathways, available job opportunities, and the skills needed to meet current industry demands,” she said.
