UUM-UniMAP Join Forces to Clean Flood-Hit Schools in Jitra
JITRA, 4 December 2024: The Ihsan MADANI Squad Programme by the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE), jointly organised by Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) and Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP), came together to clean up Sekolah Kebangsaan Seri Banai, which was heavily affected by flooding.
UUM Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dato’ Dr. Mohd Foad Sakdan, demonstrated his full support for this noble effort by also actively participating in the school’s cleaning efforts.
The programme, which commenced at 8.00 am, with participants from UniMAP and UUM convening at Kolej Kediaman Tuanku Tengku Fauziah (KKTTF), UniMAP, and the UUM Campus before departing for the primary destination, Sekolah Kebangsaan Banai, Kampung Kepala Batu.
Upon arrival at the location, a briefing was conducted, followed by the division of groups facilitated by a collaboration of forces from both universities. The mission to clean the school environment began at 9:15 am, involving a range of cleaning activities and reorganisation of the school premises.
He, along with over 200 students from UUM and UniMAP, collaborated to assist in the cleanup of the school, which had been affected by flooding that resulted in the inundation of some copies of the Al-Quran.
The programme continued with a cleaning mission at two different locations where Team A continued its activities at Sekolah Kebangsaan Banai, while Team B moved to Sekolah Kebangsaan Kepala Batas, Jitra.
“Programmes of this nature not only inculcate noble values in students but also enhance the university’s relations with the local community.
“The UUM-UniMAP Ihsan Madani Squad mission will, to a certain extent, contribute to the restoration of this school for the benefit of the students,” he said.
The collaborative effort between UUM and UniMAP in ensuring the success of this programme has garnered widespread commendation, reflecting the MADANI spirit that the Ministry of Education aims to cultivate.
