HRH Tuanku Raja Muda of Kedah Officiates the UUM Open Golf Tournament 2025
SINTOK, 1 September 2025: His Royal Highness (HRH) Tengku Sarafudin Badlishah Ibni Al-Aminul Karim Sultan Sallehuddin, the Tuanku Raja Muda of Kedah, graciously consented to attend the UUM Open Golf Tournament2025, held at the Sultan Sallehuddin Golf Club, Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM).
Following the tournament, HRH Tuanku Raja Muda of Kedah proceeded to the UUM EDC to attend the luncheon and officiate the Prize Presentation Ceremony, which took place on Saturday, 30 August 2025.
In the VIP category, the Deputy Minister of Higher Education, YBhg. Datuk Ts. Mustapha Sakmud, emerged as Champion, receiving both a Garmin watch and a championship trophy.
Two students from the UUM National Golf Academy, Mr. Zia Iqmal Abdul Rasyid and Ms. Charlayne Chong emerged as champions in the Student Category for Male and Female, respectively.
As champions, each received RM1,500 cash, a cart bag and a championship trophy.
Mr. Zia Iqmal exhibited remarkable endurance and consistency, completing the three-day walk with a total of 213 strokes (69, 72, 72). Ms. Charlayne also displayed an impressive performance, finishing with a total of 214 strokes (73, 68, 73).
In the Open Gross Category, Mr. Abdullah Dania was crowned the overall champion, having demonstrated exceptional performance with 71 strokes on the first day and 72 strokes on the second day.
He took home prizes in the form of RM2,000 cash, a Garmin watch and a championship trophy.
In the Open Category (Medal A), the champion title went to Mr. Roslan Piei who received a cash prize of RM1,700 cash along with a Garmin watch.
The Open Category (Medal B) witnessed the announcement of Mr. Mohamad Fisol Othman as the champion, taking home a cash prize of RM1,500 along with a Fairway Wood Qi35.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of UUM Holdings Sdn. Bhd., YBhg. Dato’ Mohd Zuhri Abdullah, expressed his hope that the UUM Open Golf Tournament will grow into a prestigious event that is eagerly anticipated by the Malaysian golfing community.
During his welcoming remarks at the prize presentation ceremony, he emphasised that this tournament was not just a competition, but also a platform to foster connections among students of the UUM National Golf Academy, UUM golfing community and other golfers, while also promoting the Sultan Sallehuddin Golf Club.
“I fervently hope that today’s tournament will serve as a foundation for more significant and prestigious events in the future. Hopefully, it may evolve into a biennial event that is eagerly awaited not only by UUM golfers but also by the broader Malaysian golf community,” he said.
