SINTOK, 1 September 2025: Two students from the Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) National Golf Academy, Mr. Zia Iqmal Abdul Rasyid and Ms. Charlayne Chong, emerged champions in the Student Category (Male and Female) of the 2025 UUM Open Golf Championship, held at the Sultan Sallehuddin Golf Club last Saturday.
As champions, both students received RM1,500 in cash, a cart bag and a championship trophy.
Mr. Zia Iqmal demonstrated remarkable endurance and consistency, completing the three-day game with a total of 213 strokes (69, 72, 72). Meanwhile, Ms. Charlayne delivered an equally outstanding performance, finishing with 214 strokes (73, 68, 73).
The Prize Presentation Ceremony was officiated by His Royal Highness Tengku Sarafudin Badlishah Ibni Al Aminul Karim Sultan Sallehuddin, the Raja Muda of Kedah, who graciously consented to attend the prestigious tournament, held for the first time.
The successful organisation of this tournament not only highlights the emerging talents of UUM students but also underscores the university’s strong commitment to nurturing competitive golf athletes for the international stage.
