PKKPK UUM’s case teaching innovations recognised by Harvard Business Impact

SINTOK, 18 August 2025: The Pusat Kajian Kes Pengurusan dan Kepimpinan (PKKPK), Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM), has gained international recognition with the publication of an article in Harvard Business Impact (HBI) Education, under its prestigious Inspiring Minds section.

The article, titled “Adapting Case Teaching for Multilingual Classrooms: 3 Ways to Increase Student Comprehension and Engagement”, was authored by Assoc. Prof. Dr Narentheren Kaliappen, Director of PKKPK, and Dr Noor Amalina Mat Yusof, Deputy Director of PKKPK. It introduces innovative, field-tested approaches to making case-based learning more inclusive and impactful for diverse student populations.

The first strategy highlights the use of scaffolding and visual aids to make case content more accessible.  The second emphasizes creating safe spaces that encourage participation among reluctant speakers.  The third underscores the importance of localizing case content to reflect students’ real-world contexts.

“These strategies reflect PKKPK’s commitment to advancing case study pedagogy, ensuring that every learner—regardless of language background—can engage meaningfully with the case method,” said Dr Narentheren.
