During the ceremony, the students recited the pledge as a symbol of their commitment to uphold the university’s regulations and maintain integrity throughout their academic journey. The pledge recital was led by Mr Muhammad Hamiz Mohammad Arif, accompanied by four international student representatives comprising one student from Uzbekistan, two from Thailand and one from Indonesia.
The pledge was then formally handed over to Mr Muhammad Iskandar Zulkarnain Muhammad Suhaimi, who is performing the duties of the Registrar, in the presence of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr Ahmad Martadha Mohamed; Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and International), Prof. Dr Mohd Azizuddin Mohd Sani; and Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation), Prof. Ram Al Jaffri Saad, who is performing the duties of Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student Affairs and Alumni).
A Heart-to-Heart Session with the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr Ahmad Martadha Mohamed, was also held, providing students with the opportunity to hear directly from the university’s top leadership in a relaxed and open setting.
In his address, Prof. Dr Ahmad Martadha encouraged the students to make full use of the opportunity to pursue knowledge at UUM by remaining focused on their studies. He reminded them that university life is not solely about earning a degree, but also about gaining meaningful experiences and creating lasting memories throughout their time on campus.
He also urged students to take advantage of the wide range of facilities available at the university, including sports amenities, and to actively participate in co-curricular activities, clubs and associations. At the same time, he encouraged them to build friendships and engage with both local and international students as a way of enriching their overall campus experience.
The event was organised by the Student Excellence and Leadership Centre (SELECT) as part of MSK, aimed at helping new students adapt smoothly to campus life.
