BGS UUM celebrates new inductees and Highest Honour Award

SINTOK, 13 October 2025: The Beta Gamma Sigma (BGS) UUM Chapter successfully held the BGS Cohort 9 Kick-off and Induction Ceremony on 8 October 2025 at Dewan Sri Angsana, EDC-UUM.

The event was graced by Professor Dr Ahmad Martadha Mohamed, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student Affairs and Alumni); Associate Professor Dr Raja Haslinda Raja Mohd Ali, Performing the duties of  the Dean of Tunku Puteri Intan Safinaz School of Accountancy (TISSA) and Dr Nor Atikah binti Shafai, Coordinator of BGS UUM Chapter.

A total of 48 new inductees from SBM, SEFB, TISSA, IBS, STML, and SOIS were officially welcomed into the honour society, marking the beginning of their journey as members of the global BGS community dedicated to academic and ethical excellence.

The ceremony also celebrated the outstanding achievements of BGS Cohort 8, which was proudly recognised with the “Highest Honour Chapter” award for the 2024/2025 academic year in acknowledgement of their exceptional performance and contributions.

In his address, Professor Dr Ahmad Martadha Mohamed reminded members that belonging to an elite society should not only be seen as a privilege, but also as a responsibility.

He urged them to go beyond academic achievement by engaging in innovative and impactful community initiatives. He emphasised that true leadership is defined not by status but by action – through initiatives that bring meaningful improvements to society. He encouraged members to harness their talents, creativity, and knowledge to craft innovative solutions that address social challenges and advance community development.

The ceremony continued with the BGS Oath Session, led by Cheah Xiao Tung, Student President of Cohort 9. The oath symbolised the members’ pledge to uphold the society’s core values of honour, wisdom, and earnestness.

It reflected their commitment to maintain academic integrity, lead with ethical principles, and contribute positively to the community as proud representatives of BGS and Universiti Utara Malaysia.
