Somalia delegates visit TISSA-UUM to support sponsored postgraduate students

SINTOK, 28 July 2025: Tunku Puteri Intan Safinaz School of Accountancy (TISSA-UUM) had the honour of hosting a meaningful and inspiring courtesy visit from representatives of the Somalia Enhancing Public Resource Management Project (SERP) – a World Bank-funded initiative under the Ministry of Finance, Federal Government of Somalia.
The delegation comprised Mr. Abubakar Abdulle, Monitoring & Evaluation Specialist, and Mr. Adam Mohamed Hassan, Financial Management Specialist of the SERP Project. The visit was facilitated by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Idawati Ibrahim, Chair of the Master in Taxation Programme, along with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Arifatul Husna.
Dr. Idawati said, the visit was part of an ongoing commitment to monitor the academic progress and overall well-being of Somali students currently enrolled at TISSA-UUM.
“At present, six students are pursuing the Master in Taxation programme, while two students are enrolled in the MSc. (International Accounting) programme,” she said.
Though unplanned, the visit was warmly received by the TISSA-UUM community, reflecting the school’s strong dedication to international collaboration and academic support.
Also present during the visit were Somali postgraduate students, Mr. Haret Mubarak (MIT) and Mr. Ayub Hashi (MSc. IA), who expressed their heartfelt appreciation for the opportunity to engage directly with their sponsors and share their academic experiences.
TISSA-UUM views this visit as a promising step toward strengthening academic partnerships and capacity-building efforts, and looks forward to continued collaboration in empowering future leaders through quality education.
