UUM INTRODUCES NEW INITIATIVES TO ENHANCE CAMPUS WELL-BEING
SINTOK, 19 May 2026 – A total of 819 staff members and students of Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) attended the UUM Staff Monthly Gathering and the launch of UUM COB Week 2026, held this morning at the Sultanah Bahiyah Library Foyer.
Organised by the College of Business, Universiti Utara Malaysia (COB), the programme brought together members of the university community in an effort to strengthen institutional synergy while keeping staff and students informed of the university’s latest developments and initiatives.
In his opening address, UUM Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Ahmad Martadha Mohamed, expressed his appreciation for the increasing participation at each monthly gathering, describing it as a positive reflection of the university community’s growing engagement and awareness of the programme’s objectives.
“More members of the university community are participating in the monthly gathering. This reflects their growing understanding of the developments taking place at UUM and the purpose behind organising these gatherings,” he said during his speech.
During the event, the Vice-Chancellor also announced two significant developments for the university community, namely the rebranding of Inasis Petronas to Inasis Perodua, as well as the upcoming Innovation Day and University Awards Ceremony (HIMPU) 2026, scheduled to take place on 4 June 2026. The ceremony will serve as a platform to recognise and celebrate the contributions, commitment, and outstanding achievements of members of the UUM community.
The programme also featured the launch and handover of several key university initiatives, including UUM COB Week 2026, the i-Care System, the Kasih Siswa Menu, the UUM SpotFix Hygiene Management Application, the ADAB Poster initiative, and laptop assistance for selected students.
UUM COB Week 2026 was organised as an initiative spearheaded by the Beta Gamma Sigma (BGS) UUM Chapter to strengthen collaboration among clubs under the auspices of COB, while fostering closer engagement with industry partners. In today’s increasingly dynamic and challenging economic and business environment, the programme serves as a valuable platform for students to enhance their academic knowledge while developing leadership qualities, strategic thinking, and critical decision-making skills.
Meanwhile, the Student Accommodation Centre (SAC) under the Division of Student Affairs and Alumni (HEP) introduced the i-Care Service (Inasis Care), a dedicated platform designed to enable students to channel complaints and feedback regarding campus facilities and services in a more convenient, efficient, and systematic manner.
Through the initiative, students can now report issues related to INASIS facilities, campus bus services, cafeterias, and other campus amenities via the UUM Student Portal or the UUM Student 2.0 Mobile Application. All complaints and feedback submitted through the platform will be monitored and addressed promptly to ensure more effective service delivery.
Another notable innovation introduced during the event was the UUM SpotFix application, a campus hygiene management system developed under the Innovative and Creative Group (KIK) initiative. The application was created to address inefficiencies in managing cleanliness-related complaints across the Sintok campus, while improving service efficiency and promoting a cleaner, more organised, and conducive environment for the university community.
Adding to the achievement, the UUM SpotFix innovation has been selected to represent UUM at the 18th New Horizon Convention of the Innovative and Creative Group (KIK) at the public university level, which will be held from 4 to 6 August 2026.
The ceremony also witnessed the presentation of the ADAB Poster initiative led by the Islamic Centre. The initiative promotes the cultivation of noble values and good character through the appreciation of the ADAB acronym: A for Salam (greetings), D for Doa (prayer), A for Amanah (trust), and B for Berterima Kasih (gratitude). These values also embody the essence of UUM’s slogan, “Knowledge, Virtue and Service”.
The posters were presented to members of the university’s top management, namely the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and International), Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student Affairs and Alumni), Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation), and the Registrar, as representatives of the wider university community.
Also held during the programme was the presentation of laptops to 15 students who successfully passed the screening process for the third distribution phase this year. Since January 2026, a total of 42 students have benefited from the laptop assistance initiative, which is implemented every semester to support students in need.
The programme concluded with a photography session and a brisk walk involving members of the university community, as part of efforts to promote a healthy lifestyle and strengthen camaraderie among campus residents.
