UUM Strategic Plan Records 72.6 Per Cent Performance in Q2 2026
SINTOK, 8 July 2026: Universiti Utara Malaysia’s (UUM) Strategic Plan for 2026 continues to demonstrate encouraging progress, with the majority of its key performance indicators (KPIs) remaining on track, providing confidence that the university is well positioned to achieve its year-end target.
Director of the Corporate Planning and Performance Division (BPPK), Professor Dr Nor Aziah Abd Manaf, presented the Strategic Plan performance report for the second quarter (Q2) 2026, revealing that the university recorded an overall performance of 72.6 per cent. Although the target has yet to be fully achieved, the results indicate that UUM is progressing steadily towards meeting its strategic target.
According to her, the achievement was measured using the average performance method across each strategic thrust and is expected to improve further in the third (Q3) and fourth (Q4) quarters as several key performance indicators scheduled for implementation in the second half of the year are realised.
“Thrust 3 (Promoting Students with Manners) and Thrust 4 (New Model of Financial Sustainability) have recorded encouraging performances, while Thrust 1 (Academic Excellence and Global Influence), Thrust 2 (Research, Innovation and Community Impact), and Thrust 5 (Strengthening Leadership to Empower Institutions) have demonstrated satisfactory progress and are expected to improve further over the remainder of the year.
“Thrust 6 (Upholding Governance, Strengthening Service Delivery) still requires further enhancement, as most of its indicators are newly introduced and require a reasonable implementation period before tangible outcomes can be realised,” she said during the Strategic Plan Appreciation Ceremony and the Presentation of the Second Quarter Achievements of the 2026 Strategic Plan held at EDC-UUM today.
Reviewing the university’s performance by indicator, Professor Nor Aziah revealed that nearly half of the overall performance indicators had attained exemplary results, with 69 of the 143 indicators (48 per cent) successfully achieving their full targets by the end of the second quarter.
She added that several indicators under Thrust 5, including those related to the Signature Programme and ATM Blue, will only be assessed beginning next year. As such, the overall performance of the thrust cannot yet be comprehensively evaluated this year.
Nevertheless, she expressed optimism that the university’s performance would continue to improve by the end of the year through the implementation of various strategic initiatives being undertaken by all Centres of Authority (PTJs).
She also urged all members of the university community to sustain the momentum of implementing every planned initiative to ensure that the objectives of the Fourth Phase Strategic Plan are fully achieved, thereby further strengthening UUM’s standing as a leading management university at both the national and international levels.
Also present were Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Ahmad Martadha Mohamed, the Deputy Vice-Chancellors, Deputy Registrar (Performing the Duties of the Registrar) Mr Mohd Zulkifli Mohd Noor, as well as Legal Adviser, Associate Professor Dr Khadijah Mohamed.
