SINTOK, 4 May 2025: The lush greens of Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) came alive on 25 April 2025 as the Global Buddies Club (GBC) hosted an engaging golf session titled, “The Par-fect Golf Swing,” for inbound mobility students of the A242 semester.

Held at the prestigious UUM National Golf Academy, the event offered students from around the world an introduction to the fundamentals of golf while immersing them in the tranquil beauty of UUM’s renowned golf course.

A vibrant mix of 20 international students and 12 dedicated GBC programme committee members participated, transforming the golf course into a dynamic space of cultural exchange, laughter, and learning. The event was also graced by Mr. Mohd Azri Abdul Aziz, Assistant Director and Advisor of GBC, and Mr. Amierul Husniey bin Che Abd Rahman, Executive Officer of Centre for International Affairs and Cooperation (CIAC).

Guidance throughout the session was provided by experienced students from the Bachelor of Business Administration (Golf Management) with Honours programme, who shared professional insights along with warm encouragement.

The day kicked off with practical lessons on mastering the basic golf grip, refining posture, and developing the perfect swing, followed by hands-on practice at the driving range. However, the experience extended beyond technique — it fostered genuine connection. Laughter echoed across the fairways as participants supported each other, celebrated small victories, and bonded through shared first-time experiences.

More than just a sporting activity, “The Par-fect Golf Swing” served as a meaningful platform for cross-cultural interaction, friendship, and community building. It was a reminder that some of the most impactful lessons – and memorable moments – often take place beyond the classroom.

By the end of the day, participants left not only with a newfound appreciation for golf, but also with a stronger sense of belonging and a deeper connection to UUM’s spirit of sportsmanship and global camaraderie. – Maisarah Diyana Zulkifle
